Sermon Info

We live in a word bombardment. We are inundated with words nonstop, from television to social media to text messages and everyday conversations. There is no scarcity of words, but there is a scarcity of grace-filled words to build people up. As followers of Christ, we are called to a different standard with our speech. Our words have power, and we use them for good or evil. Ephesians 4:29 counsels us to be wise with our words to the glory of God and the good of others.

The average person hears 20,000-30,000 words during the course of a day.

Words have a value structure

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29

Words create worlds

And God said Genesis 1:3a

Now the serpent… said to the woman… Genesis 3:1

What kind of environment are we creating with our words?

The words in your home have more value than you know.

Before our words can change, our hearts must change.

  • Ephesians 4:22

  • Psalm 19:14

Ways to Practice Holiness

  1. Be watchful over our words.
  2. Be intentional with our words

The right word at the right time can change the world.

The right word at the right time can change a life.
