Summary

Charles Swindoll notably said, “Whatever we do, we must not treat the Great Commission like it’s the Great Suggestion.” Unfortunately, when it comes to one of the greatest tasks and responsibilities we have been given as followers of Jesus, we all too often look at this role as something that we may or may not have time to complete. Depending on how comfortable or easy the conversation may be, depends on how likely we are to continue having it. Jesus has called each of us to more. He has called us to go and make disciples. He has called us to step into the lives of our neighbors and friends and He has given us good news to share. In what ways are you going to seek to grow in reaching out this week?

Content

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit… Matthew 28:19

The first century disciples were fearful, anxious, excited, and hopeful–sound familiar?
They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. Luke 24:37

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” John 20:19

Jesus’ authority leads to my right to share.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” Matthew 28:18

Jesus is sovereign, powerful, and close.
For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:16-17

God’s plan for going and making disciples is you and me.
...for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? Romans 10:13-14

If you are looking for a reason to not go, or not share, you will always find one!
I believe that in each generation God has called enough men and women to evangelize all the yet unreached tribes of the earth. It is not God who does not call. It is man who will not respond! Isobel Kuhn

How important to you is it to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.” Luke 10:2
