Summary

Jesus simplified for us what our lives should really be about. Yet, we tend to measure our success and spend our time on a million different other things. To love God with everything in us and to give of ourselves to others is the greatest calling we have. Will you grow in your love for God today? Will you find ways to serve others and make a difference? According to Jesus, nothing else matters more!

Content

Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37

Jesus’ issue with the religious leaders had little to do with their knowledge, but a lot to do with their lack of fruit.
Then Jesus said to the crowds and to His disciples: “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.” Matthew 23:1-3

To “go deeper” is to grow deep in love for God and love for others.
And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:39-40

We tend to make loving people much more complicated than Jesus did.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 1 Corinthians 13:4

God is Love!
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:7-8

Love leads to my life being more about others than about me.
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18
