Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

As the Church today, we have…

1. The Call to Boldness
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13

  • Peter and John were ordinary people that God used in an extraordinary way.
  • 53 days earlier Peter was timid. What changed?
    • The forgiveness of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • Peter and John spoke boldly about Jesus.

2. The Responsibility to God
But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him?” Acts 4:19

  • Peter and John understood their responsibility to obey God over man.
  • As Christ-followers, our first responsibility is to God.
  • We have a responsibility to be God’s Church today.
  • They were in a world of uncertainty, and so are we. They had great faith in God.

3. The Importance of Prayer
When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. Acts 4:24

  • The response of the Early Church was to pray.
  • Prayer gives us the proper perspective.
  • There is power in prayer.
  • As Christ-followers and His Church today, we are called to pray.

4. The Assurance that we are Better Together
All the believers were one in heart and mind. Acts 4:32

  • Men, women, and children all united in Jesus and His Church.
  • We can do more together for God’s glory than we can alone.
  • We need God and we need each other.
  • We are the Church.

Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God. - Corrie Ten Boom
