Summary

How can you find real peace? We look for peace in all the wrong places. We seek peace with others by avoiding them. We look for peace with God through religion. When it comes to finding peace with ourselves…far too many of us have come to believe that’s not even an option. True peace in all of these things and more is available at any moment, but it’s only found through Jesus. Join us as we continue our Christmas series and discover how Jesus can give you real peace.

Content

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Isaiah 9:6

For us to truly experience peace today we must understand:

1. Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of His government and peace, there will be no end. Isaiah 9:7

  • True peace only comes in Jesus.
  • Most people try to find peace in the things of this world.
  • We cannot satisfy God-needs through Man-means.
  • Jesus wants you to experience peace with your past, in the present, and with your future.

2. Jesus brings us peace with God.
I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33

  • Peace does not mean the absence of problems or questions.
  • We experience peace as we live in the center of God’s will.
  • It’s not about religion, but about a relationship.

3. Jesus brings us peace with others.
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:18

  • Jesus calls us to be peacemakers.
  • Peace is not avoiding a problem.
  • Focus on the person, not the problem.
  • Bring Jesus into all your relationships.

4. Jesus brings us peace with ourselves.
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

  • Our own insecurity leads to worry and fear.
  • We have been forgiven, so stop living in guilt and live in grace!
  • God loves us, so we can love ourselves.

5. True peace only comes in Jesus
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

  • Place your faith and trust in Jesus in order to experience true peace.

Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee- St. Augustine
