Summary

We live in a culture of anxiety, worry, and fear, but God wants us to be “anxious for nothing.” God is Sovereign - He is in control of everything. When we learn to fully trust Him, then we can have peace. This doesn’t mean that we will not go through challenging times in our life, but it will mean that will always know that God is with us. Changing the music of our life to Psalm 23 will be a constant reminder that, The Lord is my Shepherd. I lack nothing. Psalm 23:1

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6

How do we overcome anxiety, worry, and fear in our lives today?

1. It’s all about Jesus.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

  • You must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • It’s not about religion, but about a relationship with Jesus.
  • Allow Jesus to be in control of your life.

2. Pray every day.
...if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. Philippians 4:8

  • When anxiety, worry, or fear come pray immediately.
  • What are you allowing in your mind and heart?
  • Prayer and meditation will change your heart and mind.

3. Don’t go through life alone.
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

  • Be honest with family and friends.
  • Get help from pastors, counselors, and doctors when needed.
  • Surround yourself with godly people.

4. Learn to be content in Christ.
I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation. Philippians 4:12

  • Don’t think that money, technology, or anything else will solve all your problems.
  • Focus on what you do have and not on what you don’t have.
  • Allow God to be enough for you.

5. Always remember God is with you!
The Lord is my Shepherd. I lack nothing. Psalm 23:1

  • Through Jesus, you are a child of God.
  • You will go through ups and downs in life, but God is always with you.
  • Through Jesus, your eternity is secure.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7

Communion
This morning, we will share Communion, the Lord’s Supper. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you are invited to bring your anxiety, worries, and fears to the table and receive God’s grace and remember His Presence with you today as well as for all eternity.
