Meet Pastor T

Originally from Louisiana, God called T. Lusk into vocational ministry when he was in ninth grade, and that brought T. to a few different roles across several different states in his past 20 years of ministry. Before transitioning into his now-role as Columbia Campus Pastor, T. served as our College & Young Adults Pastor for three years and also helped lead our Men’s Ministry & Sports With a Purpose because he has a huge heart for reaching young adults and men with the Gospel. Now the Campus Pastor of our newest campus in Columbia, T. loves the opportunity he has to come alongside individuals and families and help them get connected and involved in Rolling Hills. He so loves proclaiming the Gospel and seeing the Lord transform lives and is thankful to be a part of their faith journeys.

On his off days, T. loves to be with his wife, Rebecca and his kiddos, Cooper, Quinn, and Kate. One of his favorite things to do with them is try out new restaurants. Golfing is also a hobby of his, even though he says he’s not the best golfer around (it’s all about having fun, right?). Something you may not know about T. is that in high school and college, he was in multiple musicals! We’re so glad to have T. a part of our church family!

Advent // Joy

“The world looks for happiness through self-assertion. The Christian knows that joy is found in self-abandonment. ‘If a man will let himself be lost for My sake,’ Jesus said, ‘he will find his true self.” Elizabeth Elliot

What an amazing quotation from Elizabeth Elliot, who by the way is uniquely capable of commenting on where joy comes from as her husband, Jim, was put to death in South America for the sake of the Gospel. Instead of harboring bitterness, she forgave and eventually went back to the very tribe of people who put her husband to death to continue telling them about Jesus. What Elizabeth says, is that we look for happiness by self-assertion. Happiness comes when I get to insert myself into whatever situation I want and I get whatever I want. However, the Christ follower knows that joy is found in self-abandonment. By putting myself last, losing myself, and in doing so I find Jesus and the joy that comes from him alone. May you find joy this Christmas in putting yourself last, and putting Jesus first.
