Sermon Info

We are called to grow in our love. Love is the basis of every marriage and every relationship. It is easy to blame other people, but what about us? Are you growing in your love? In 1 Corinthians, the apostle Paul gives a list of 15 characteristics of what love is, what love is not, and what love always does. As we study this list, put your name in each phrase. Is this who you are in your relationships? To have a thriving, godly, successful marriage today, or one day, grow deeper in your love for God and for others. Make a commitment to live in love.

The impact of sin on all our relationships. (Genesis 3)

Sin brings shame and blame in our relationship with God and with each other.

God calls us to live in love.

And yet I will show you the most excellent way. 1 Corinthians 12:31b

In 1 Corinthians 13, the apostle Paul tells us how to grow in love.

  • The Theological - vs. 1-3
  • The Practical - vs. 6-13

Love is…

Love is patient.

Love is kind.

Love is not…

Love does not envy.

Love does not boast.

Love is not proud.

Love is not rude.

Love is not self-seeking.

Love is not easily angered.

Love keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil.

Love rejoices with the truth.

Love always…

Love always protects.

Love always trusts.

Love always hopes.

Love always perseveres.

Love never fails.

And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
