Summary

Our God can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. Yet, so often, we settle for so little. We think only about what this world can offer, and we forget about the power, grace, and love of our great God. Jesus still does miracles today. As we stay faithful to Him, we are able to see and experience the beauty and power of God. Invite Jesus into your heart and daily life, and watch Him transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

As we walk through life this week, are there stories or scenarios we see in our life, or miracles in lives around us that are encouraging to us? God wants to show us how immeasurably more life can be, with Him and His plan for our life. Let's start with inviting Him into our life.

“Now to Him who is able TO DO IMMEASURABLY MORE…”

In John 1, we read of Jesus coming down to earth and starting His ministry. In John 2, Jesus’ first miracle was at a wedding He was invited to. They didn’t have sports back then, nor holidays like Christmas or Easter… so weddings were a big deal. If you were invited, you would have shown up. No hesitation. During that time, the groom's family would have been responsible for paying for the wedding, including making sure that there was enough wine for the guests to drink. The bride's family could sue them if there weren’t, it was a big deal to run out of wine at a wedding!

Mary knew there was a problem, and trusted Jesus to fix it his way.

In the process is where the miracles happen. It was the servants in this story that witness the miracle. All in attendance received the blessing on some level. But the servants' eyes were able to see, and their obedience and faithfulness to Jesus allowed them to witness the tearing of the veal and heaven on earth for a moment in time.

What these servants witnessed, was not just Jesus saving, but doing immeasurably more than necessary.

180 Gallons of THE BEST Wine, is equivalent to about 1,000 bottles today. Can you believe that?

This couple would have been able to sell and profit from this amount of wine! The blessing Jesus provided was not just to get through this struggle, but immeasurably more. He started this couple off well in their marriage! What provision! In Joel 3, we see how the prophecy is fulfilled by Jesus in this first miracle. He encourages us to invite Jesus into our marriages, into our next season of school, sports, job opportunities, etc. We can see how He is the provider, and by just inviting Him to show up, we can see what He can do in our lives.

Many people's lives were transformed that day.

What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which He revealed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him. John 2:11
