Faith Over Fear // Faith Matters
August 3, 2026
God calls us to live with faith over fear. Yet, we live in a world of fear. We are bombarded every day with worries, doubts and fears. And, every day we must decide if we are going to live with faith or fear. When we bring our fears to Jesus, He hears our heart and answers our prayers. And, when He does, we are called to respond with worship, gratitude and service. What fears do you have today? Fears of the future, fears of failure, fears for your family or friends. Let’s bring all our fears to Jesus and ask Him to grow our faith. He is willing and able today.
Jesus reaches out.
“Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man.” Matthew 8:3
- God came near.
- Jesus touches the untouchable.
- Jesus is willing.
Jesus recognizes great faith.
The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have You come under my roof. But just say the word and my servant will be healed.” Matthew 8:8
- Matthew moves from a Jewish leper to a Gentile soldier.
- Only two times in Scripture is Jesus “amazed,” and they both have to do with faith.
- Is Jesus amazed at my faith?
Jesus allows us to respond.
“He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on Him.” Matthew 8:15
- God’s grace in our life should produce gratitude.
- We are called to put our faith into action.
- Healthy Christians are not merely consumers, but contributors.
Jesus receives all who will come.
“When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to Him, and He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.” Matthew 8:16
- People brought their struggles and fears to Jesus.
- Jesus healed and restored each one.
- Jesus calls us to live a life of faith.
- “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6
