Faith Over Fear // Go! In the Name of Jesus

August 30, 2026

Today we come to Matthew 10 in our study of the Gospel of Matthew. Up to this point, Jesus has been teaching His disciples the way of the Kingdom of God and doing all the ministry as they watched. Now, He will send them out to put into practice what they have been learning and seeing in Him. Jesus gives them a charge before they go to trust Him and to choose faith over fear in every situation. Just like the disciples back then, Jesus sends us out into the world today. We are called to choose faith over fear as we live out our faith and share Jesus with others.

The Charge

“As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’” Matthew 10:7

  • Go! Share the Good News of Jesus.
  • Place your faith fully in Jesus.
  • Not everyone will respond to you, but many will.

The Challenge

“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves.” Matthew 10:16a

  • Being a Christian is not always easy
  • You should have some areas in your life where people in the world push back on you.
  • When the challenges come, God will speak through you, and He will protect you.

The Courage

“Do not be afraid of those who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul.” Matthew 10:28a

  • Three times in this charge, Jesus says, “Do not be afraid.”
  • There will be challenges in life, but this is where your faith grows.
  • Choose faith over fear every day and in every situation.

The Change

“And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is My disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.” Matthew 10:42

  • The change in others.
  • The change in you.
  • The change in the world.
