Sermon Info

We are called to grow in our love. Love is the basis of every marriage and every relationship. It is easy to blame other people, but what about us? Are you growing in your love? In 1 Corinthians, the apostle Paul gives a list of 15 characteristics of what love is, what love is not, and what love always does. As we study this list, put your name in each phrase. Is this who you are in your relationships? To have a thriving, godly, successful marriage today, or one day, grow deeper in your love for God and for others. Make a commitment to live in love.

How can I grow in LOVE?

May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. 1 Thessalonians 3:12

First, be sure you are operating with the right DESCRIPTION.

…if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:2b

1. Which ones need the most attention in my life?
2. What am I holding on to that stands in contrast to loving others?

Next, understand MATURITY.

When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 1 Corinthians 13:11b

Finally, never lose the weight of SACRIFICE.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13

  • selfishness makes relationships IDOLS
  • selflessness makes relationships OFFERINGS

Love is the most excellent way. 1 Corinthians 12:31
