Sermon Info

God wants us to have a great love life. God created love, and He longs for us to thrive. Yet, there is a big difference between the world’s way of love and God’s way. The world’s way says, “What can you do for me?” Where God’s way says, “What can I do for you?” Having a great marriage one day starts today. Learn to love the way God teaches. In your dating relationship and marriage, put God first. Grow in your love for God, and this will impact everything else.

1. God created love.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:7-8

  • We all want real love.
  • There is a big difference between what the world calls love and God’s way.
  • The world tries to sell a cheap imitation of love called lust.
  • The Bible teaches, “God is love.”
  • Do you love God’s way or the world’s way?

2. God defines love for us.

This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:9-10

  • There are four Greek words for love:
    • Storge - Affection
    • Phileo - Family
    • Eros - Erotic
    • Agape - Unconditional
  • How are you growing in your relationship with God?
  • Who you marry is the second most important decision of your life.

3. Love is the evidence of our relationship with God.

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:11-12

  • Love is more than an emotion.
  • Love is a choice.
  • Live in Love.
