Summary

God does miracles in the lives of His people. God brought His people in the Bible out of slavery in Egypt, yet God was not finished with them. God had a beautiful land and life for them. And, God is not finished with us, as His people today. God brought us out of slavery to sin by His grace through Jesus Christ His Son. And, God is still at work in us. As long as there is breath in our lungs, God wants to use us for His glory. Two years ago, as a church, we embarked on a Campaign called, “For the Kingdom.” We have one year left, so let’s “Finish Strong.” Today, we start 21-Days of Prayer and Fasting until our Commitment, or Re-Commitment, Sunday on November 15. Our best days as a church are still ahead. Your best days, I believe, are still ahead. Let’s give our best for the glory of our great God! Let’s Finish Strong!

Content

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

1. Join God in what He is doing.
Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand, Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Joshua 5:13-14

  • God invites you to join Him.
  • We are a part of something bigger than ourselves.
  • God wants to do amazing things in our life, in our family, and in our community.
  • Even Rahab joined in what God was doing.
  • The Battle is the Lord’s.

2. Be obedient to God.
Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its kind and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days.” Joshua 6:2-3

  • Trust God even when it doesn’t make any sense.
  • God is teaching us to trust Him.
  • God will call us to do things for Him outside of our comfort zone.

3. Finish Strong!
The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city! The city and all that are in it are to be devoted to the Lord.” Joshua 6:16-17a

  • Move your faith into action.
  • Always go forward in your faith journey.
  • Live your life fully for the glory of God!

Communion
This morning we share the Lord’s Supper together. If you are a follower of Christ Jesus, then you are invited to receive, “His Body broken for you,” and “His blood poured out for you.” By the grace of God and the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, we have eternal life. Jesus paid it all and won the Battle over sin and death. Through Jesus we are the Lord’s people today.

Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you. Joshua 3:5
