Summary

It is safe to say most people want to be considered loving. However, it starts to narrow when you realize what love really is, and Who our definition of love should be based on! Christ-centered love is truly all about Jesus and all about others. Put another way–to grow in love means to decrease in self. We will never really experience the beautiful life Jesus has for us until we take the command to love as a serious command and not something we can just get around to when it is easy or convenient. Pray today for God to show you how to grow in love!

Content

The one who keeps God’s commands lives in Him, and He in them. And this is how we know that He lives in us: We know it by the Spirit He gave us. 1 John 3:24

A lack of love has caused problems from the beginning.
For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. 1 John 3:11

A pursuit of Christ-centered love is considered foolishness to the world.
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

A definition of love not anchored in Christ will always fall short.
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 1 John 3:16

A life of love is to be lived out in word and deed.
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:18

A command to love is not just a good suggestion.
And this is His command: to believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as He commanded us. 1 John 3:24
