Sermon Info

Summary

Mental health is at an all-time low in our nation today. So many people suffer from hopelessness, fear, worry, uncertainty, and more. Yet, in the middle of all of this, there is a God who longs for us to be healthy mentally. This comes when we place our full faith in Jesus Christ, and He renews our minds for His glory. We move away from allowing the thoughts of this world to have dominion over our minds, and we take captive every thought. Even in this world, through Christ Jesus, we can truly experience His peace and share this with others. Let’s advance mentally today.

Content

There are two realities for every individual made in God’s image…

  1. God desires for us to know His good, pleasing, and perfect will.
  2. There is a real battle in our minds for how we understand and process what is happening both inside us and all around us.

Mental health calls for us to recognize that mental health affects everyone.

  • It is how we think, feel, act, and handle relationships and stress.

Mental health calls for eyes fixed on God’s mercy.

Next Steps…

  • Prioritize time with God in His Word (Psalm 16:9-11, Psalm 19:7-13)
  • Prioritize time with God in prayer (Jeremiah 33:3)
  • Rest in Christ’s love (Ephesians 3:16-19)

Mental health calls for minds that reject being conformed by the culture but submit to being transformed by the Gospel.

Next Steps…

  • Think about what you are thinking (Philippians 4:8; Colossians 3:2; 2 Corinthians 10:5)
  • Trust God more than you trust yourself (Proverbs 3:5-6)
  • Give thanks (Thessalonians 5:18)

Mental Health calls for individuals to share life with each other.

Next Steps…

  • Prioritize time with God in worship (Psalm 73:15-17)
  • Prioritize time with God’s people in community  (Romans 12:15-16)
