Summary

Worship is more than singing some songs on a Sunday morning. Worship is our life. Worship is our response to God for who He is and for what He has done in our life. We were created to worship; therefore, we will all worship something. We will worship money, success, and even our kids, but God wants us to worship Him. God longs for us to worship Him in the good times and in the struggles. When we truly live a life of worshiping God, this changes everything. Worshiping God brings peace, love, joy, and purpose into our hearts and allows us to bring glory to His Name with our life. Let’s engage in worship this week.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing, and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2

Worship is our proper response, but it isn’t an automatic one.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy… Romans 12:1a

“Worship is our response, both personal and corporate, to God for who He is, and what He has done; expressed in and by the things we say and the way we live.” - Louie Giglio

Worship without a price really isn’t worship.
...to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. Romans 12:1b

But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels of silver for them. 2 Samuel 24:24

Transformation is the key ingredient and the ultimate result.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2a

My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. Psalm 51:17

“Seek a broken heart for sin, for without that there is no meeting with Christ.” - Samuel Rutherford

Worship is more than just motions.
The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.” Isaiah 29:13

Worship is its own proof.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing, and perfect will. Romans 12:2b

Worship is regardless
I will exalt you, Lord, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me. Psalm 30:1

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. Habakkuk 3:17-18

…because worship is dependence.
When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future. Ecclesiastes 7:14
