As we turn the calendar into the year 2023, we’ll be commemorating twenty years in the life of Rolling Hills Community Church. Anniversaries offer us the chance to reflect on where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we hope to go. Our church’s calling has always been to be a people of God reaching out, growing up, and giving all. How has God brought this vision to life in the past, and how can we continue pressing toward this vision in the future? Join us this January as we celebrate the testimonies, salvations, baptisms, miracles, and life-change which have marked the last twenty years at Rolling Hills. Then, join us in our 21st year and beyond as we continue to build His Kingdom.

Every year we celebrate anniversaries in our personal lives. Birthdays, wedding anniversaries, job anniversaries, and more. These milestones offer a chance to reflect on where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we hope to go. They bring a time of joy and the opportunity to resolve for an even better future. As we turn the calendar into the year 2023, we’ll be commemorating twenty years in the life of Rolling Hills Community Church. For the next four weeks, we will reflect together upon the incredible story of how God has grown and blessed our church for the good of our local communities and the world!

When God put it on the hearts of about a dozen of His people to come together as a new church here in middle Tennessee, He revealed to them a calling and a mission. Over the last two decades, we have aimed to faithfully pursue the vision that Rolling Hills will be a people of God reaching out, growing up, and giving all. Even after 20 years, this mission remains as relevant as ever! Whether you’re new to Rolling Hills, or you’ve been here since the beginning, this series will serve to remind us and rally us around this common goal for God’s glory.

What does it mean to be a people of God? In Acts 1:8, Jesus addresses His followers, whom He had tasked with starting His church. Undoubtedly, they had hoped Jesus would immediately return and restore our fallen world once and for all. After all, what could they do apart from His presence? But Jesus, honoring God’s perfect timing, told them, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Although Christians are imperfect people, we are people of God. By our faith in Jesus, we receive the Holy Spirit, Who empowers us to bring God’s love and truth to our broken world.

As God’s people, we are citizens of His eternal Kingdom. And until Jesus returns, we have work to do. That means reaching out, growing up, and giving all. We are called to share God’s story and our own personal testimony with others. We are challenged to step into dark places and bring God’s light. We should be baptized and baptize others in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We share the responsibility of sanctifying ourselves and strengthening our faith through spiritual disciplines. We are tasked with self-sacrificing for others, giving to the needy, loving our enemies, and holding nothing back from the Lord.

And, not to be forgotten, we are called to praise Jesus, Who has already blessed us immeasurably beyond what we deserve. The work He has already done through us and in us displays His faithfulness, goodness, grace, and love. Join us this January as we celebrate the testimonies, salvations, baptisms, miracles, and life-change which have marked the last twenty years at Rolling Hills. Then, join us in our 21st year and beyond as we continue to build God’s Kingdom.
