Summary

Through Jesus, we are set free. When we commit our lives to Jesus, we ask Him to forgive our sins, redeem, and restore us. We then enter into an eternal relationship with Sovereign God who becomes our Heavenly Father and we are set free. Set free from having to live like the world and we are set free from the law. Our salvation comes in Jesus alone. We are set free and we are called then to live free. We should grow in our love for God and for others. May we love others as God loves us. Let’s be people who offer grace, forgiveness, and love just like we are received from God. We are set free to live free.

Content

1. Salvation comes only in Jesus.
But when the set time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Galatians 4:4-5

  • Salvation and redemption comes only in Jesus.
  • The Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
  • Jesus is not still on the cross. He is alive!

2. Jesus leads you into a relationship with God.
Because you are His sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are His child, God has made you also an heir. Galatians 4:6-7

  • “Abba” is our equivalent to “Daddy.”
  • Not simply knowing about Jesus, but knowing Him personally.
  • Through Jesus, you become a son of God and an heir of the Kingdom.
  • Once saved, always saved.
  • If you can’t do anything to earn it, then you can’t do anything to lose it.

3. Jesus comes to set you free.
Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. Galatians 4:8

  • Free from being a slave to this world.
  • Free from being a slave to the law.
  • Sometimes Christians are known more for what they are against than what they are for.

4. Jesus breaks the chains in your life.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman. Galatians 4:31

  • The chains of the world.
  • The chains of the law.
  • The chains of guilt and shame.

5. You are set free to live free.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

  • We are children of the Promise, not the law.
  • Don’t go back to living under the law.
  • Jesus boiled the 613 laws in the Old Testament down to two: Love God and love others.
