As summer winds down, many of us reflect on times passed as we move forward into a new beginning. For students and parents, a new school year marks another step in growing up and another summer of memories filed away. Even for others, the changing of seasons brings new routines and emotions; it’s bittersweet. The winds of change brush past the trees, reminding us that nothing of this world — even the beautiful summer weather — lasts forever. 

Does anything remain evergreen? Yes, praise be to God! Our Heavenly Father and His goodness are timeless. Even as our world turns, there is no shadow of turning with the Lord our God. Even as we mourn our youth, regret wasted hours, and lament the uncontrolled changes in our lives, He alone empowers us to redeem our time. Through Him, we have hope for eternal life, and the potential that the actions of our every day will ripple into eternity. 

Our church regularly returns to two beautiful verses in Scripture, recorded in Ephesians 3:20-21, as we revere His sovereignty over the life of our church: Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

During our new, six-week series, God Is Able, we will take our time meditating upon these two verses part-by-part. We will explore what this truth means for how we see God, how He sees us, and how He plans to work through us in our lives. We will learn to look to God for even more than we ask or imagine, and listen to Him as He reveals His extraordinary plans for our church and personal ministries.
