Summary

In an ever-changing world, there is only One constant – Jesus. As God’s people today, we are to live in the confidence that He is forever and ever. Therefore, we live by faith and not fear. Out of our confidence in Christ, we are called to invest faith in Jesus to the next generation. We are called to pass on what has been entrusted to us. As parents, grandparents, and God’s Church today, we must leave a legacy of faith and invest in what matters. What legacy are you leaving?

Content

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

The generations have always been a clear PRIORITY.

…so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God… Deuteronomy 6:2

The generations have always presented a major PROBLEM.

…be careful that you do not forget the Lord… Deuteronomy 6:12

God’s COMMAND then remains our CALLING now.

The goal isn’t the SUCCESS of the next generation but SUSTAINED faith in the next generation.

I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. 2 Timothy 1:5

Reminders we ALL need to know and ensure:

  1. Faith can FIZZLE.
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God... 2 Timothy 1:6
  2. Faith takes FORTITUDE.
So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me His prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the Gospel, by the power of God. 2 Timothy 1:8
  3. Faith freshens our MEMORY.
In the future, when your son asks you, “What is the meaning of the stipulations, decrees and laws the Lord our God has commanded you?” Deuteronomy 6:20
  4. Faith fashions the FUTURE.
And of this Gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. 2 Timothy 1:11

Bottom Line: What’s worth PASSING is worth PROTECTING.

What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. 2 Timothy 1:13-14
